Johannes Struwig is in die jaar 1720 in Groningen, Nederland, gebore. Struwig se leermeester was waarskynlik sy broer, Caspar, 'n beeldhouer, wat byna 22 jaar oueras hy was.
Alternative spellings noted in de Villiers and Pama: Streuwig,, sometimes Struwer or Strube Current usual spelling in South Africa is Struwig. SV - Stamvader; PROG - Progenitor.

Note | There is just over a page on Struwig in SA Genealogies 12. They are descendants of Johannes STRUYWIG who arrived as a soldier in 1752. They seem to have been centered in the area of Colesberg, and there are a number of intermarriages with the KLEYNGELD family.
